Laura graduated from Doherty High School in 2008. She was valedictorian of the class and president of the National Honor Society. She attended Stanford University where she competed on their rowing, rugby, and Taekwondo teams. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa with distinction with a degree in psychology in 2012.
After college she worked for two years in the college counseling and preparation field. In 2014 she moved to New York City to attend Columbia University Teacher’s College. She earned a Masters in Learning Analytics in 2017 and is on track to receive her PhD in Cognitive Science in Education in May 2018. She returned to Doherty High School last June to run her dissertation study on how to motivate students to learn scientific concepts.
She continues to compete in Taekwondo for Columbia University and recently earned her second degree black belt. She also works part time for an educational technology company in New York.
